- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 lb chicken breasts (cut into small pieces)
- 10 tablespoons butter (divided)

- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- 3–4 cups bread (cubed)
- Salt, pepper, or fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine chopped onion, carrots, celery, wild rice, and chicken broth in a baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat, whisk in flour, salt, and poultry seasoning, then gradually blend in milk until smooth.
- In a bowl, melt remaining butter and toss bread cubes until coated.
- Stir in raw chicken and creamy sauce into cooked rice mixture, topped with buttered bread.
- Increase oven temperature to 450°F and bake uncovered for 20-30 minutes until chicken is cooked and bread is golden.
- Garnish with salt, pepper, or parsley and let rest before serving.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute flour with cornstarch.
Day-old bread helps achieve a better topping texture.
