  • 2½ pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup cherry cola
  • ¾ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Season the drumsticks with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the drumsticks until they are lightly browned on all sides.
  3. Transfer the drumsticks to the slow cooker.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together cherry cola, barbecue sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and cornstarch until smooth.
  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken drumsticks in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, until the chicken is tender.
  7. In the last 30 minutes of cooking, remove the lid to allow the sauce to thicken.

Notes

You can substitute chicken thighs if preferred.
Serve with rice or a side salad for a complete meal.
