Dill Pickle Parmesan Chicken

Dill Pickle Parmesan Chicken features chicken breasts that are seasoned, draped in delightful homemade dill pickle ranch dressing, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, and coated with a crispy breadcrumb layer. Each chicken breast crisps up exquisitely in an air fryer. Don’t possess an air fryer? No worries! I’ve included instructions for baking it in the oven as well. This dish can be prepared in under 30 minutes! Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Chicken: This recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but chicken thighs will work wonderfully too. Just ensure that you cook the thighs to an internal temperature of 165°F, just as you would the chicken breasts.

  • Seasonings: Season the chicken with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

  • Dill Pickle Ranch Seasoning: I’m in love with this homemade dressing and am constantly looking for new ways to use it! (It’s the pickle counterpart of my favorite ranch dressing, which is equally fantastic.) Once you give it a try, you’ll understand why! It pairs excellently with the chicken breasts. Save some extra dressing for drizzling over the cooked chicken, too.

  • Parmesan Cheese: Half of the grated Parmesan will be mixed into the dill pickle ranch dressing, while the rest will be added to the breadcrumbs. Freshly grated cheese is highly recommended over pre-packaged varieties.

  • Breadcrumbs: Use plain breadcrumbs combined with Parmesan for a crisp coating in the air fryer. If you need an alternative, panko breadcrumbs offer extra crunch, or crushed pork rinds are a great low-carb choice.

Does Dill Pickle Parmesan Chicken Have a Strong Pickle Flavor?

Flavor is a personal preference, but I genuinely believe this dish strikes the right balance, especially with the additional drizzle of dill pickle ranch. Therefore, even if you’re not a big fan of dill pickles, you might still enjoy this chicken! The dill adds just the right amount of flavor, which is what I aim for (and taste for) with chicken breasts that can sometimes seem dull.

How To Store & Reheat Dill Pickle Parmesan Chicken

Dill Pickle Parmesan Chicken

To save any leftover dill pickle parmesan chicken (if there are any!), let it cool down to room temperature first. Then, place it in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, warm it in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes, or use the air fryer for a few minutes to maintain the crispiness. If you have leftover dill pickle ranch dressing, store it separately and it’s perfect for dipping when you reheat the chicken!

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

  2. Evenly season the chicken on all sides with the spice mix.

  3. In another small bowl, mix together the Dill Pickle Ranch Dressing and ½ cup of the grated Parmesan cheese. Spread this mixture evenly across each chicken breast.

  4. In a third bowl, blend the remaining Parmesan with the breadcrumbs. Sprinkle this breadcrumb mixture evenly over each piece of chicken.

  5. Arrange the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket. (Depending on your air fryer’s size, you may need to do this in batches.)

  6. Air fry at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, checking at 8 minutes, until the chicken achieves an internal temperature of 165°F.

  7. Remove from the air fryer and allow resting for 5 minutes before serving.

  8. Garnish with freshly chopped dill and an additional drizzle of dill pickle ranch dressing.

Oven Instructions:

If you prefer to use the oven:

  1. Preheat to 400°F and lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish or sheet pan with cooking spray.

  2. Lay the seasoned chicken breasts in an even layer in the baking dish.

  3. Spread the dill pickle ranch dressing and Parmesan mixture on top of each chicken breast.

  4. Dust the breadcrumb mix over each piece of chicken.

  5. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165°F. For an extra crispy top, switch to broil during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, monitoring closely to avoid burning.
