Description

Enjoy this Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish featuring layers of flaky puff pastry, creamy filling, and sweet strawberry jam. Perfect for breakfast or a delightful treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 17.3 oz. box puff pastry dough, (2 sheets), thawed but refrigerated
  • ½ cup strawberry jam, other flavors also work
  • 1 tsp orange or lemon zest, (optional)
  • 1 tbsp milk, any type works
  • 1 tbsp turbinado sugar, or use granulated sugar
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar with a mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.
  3. Unfold the puff pastry sheets on the baking sheet, keeping the middle section intact for the filling.
  4. Cut 1-inch strips on both sides of the pastry sheet, leaving the middle connected at the fold.
  5. Spread the cream cheese filling smoothly over the center section of both pastry sheets.
  6. Mix the strawberry jam with orange or lemon zest and spread about ¼ cup on top of the cream cheese filling for each pastry.
  7. Fold the outer slits over the filling, creating a braided pattern with a slight downward angle.
  8. Brush the tops of the Danishes with milk, wetting the visible braiding.
  9. Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  10. Bake the pastries for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  11. Cool for 15 minutes, then prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until pourable.
  12. Pour the glaze over the cooled pastries, let it set, slice, and serve.

Notes

Use any fruit jam you prefer for a different flavor.
Ensure your puff pastry is refrigerated until you’re ready to use it for best results.
Serve warm for a delightful treat. Or enjoy it at room temperature.
