Description

These Valentine Cinnamon & Spice Palmiers are irresistible treats that blend a crunchy exterior with a soft, flavorful interior. Baked with warm spices and a hint of orange zest, they are perfect for sharing with loved ones. Easy to make yet impressive, these palmiers are the ideal addition to any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb puff pastry
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough by either making homemade puff pastry or thawing store-bought frozen puff pastry.
  • Mix granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom in a bowl, dividing into two bowls with orange zest added to one half.
  • Roll out dough, sprinkle with the sugar mixture, then top with the mixture containing orange zest and roll tightly to create a log.
  • Chill the logs for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Slice logs into 3/8 inch thick slices, arrange on baking sheets, and sprinkle with leftover spice mixture.
  • Bake for 8-9 minutes, flip, and bake for another 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack and enjoy.

Notes

Store any leftovers at room temperature for up to 1 week.
For a richer flavor, consider using brown sugar instead of granulated sugar.
These palmiers can be frozen for up to 3 months and reheated in the oven.
