Description

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups salted butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350℉ and prepare a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the softened butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  3. Add the flour to the mixture and blend thoroughly, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Press approximately 2/3 of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for about 15 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar with cornstarch, and incorporate the fresh blueberries until evenly coated.
  6. Spread the blueberry mixture over the baked crust evenly.
  7. Crumble the remaining mixture on top of the blueberries to form a topping.
  8. Bake the completed dish for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. If desired, make icing by whisking together powdered sugar and milk. Adjust milk for a drizzling consistency.
  10. Once cooled, drizzle icing over the bars and serve.

Notes

Use fresh blueberries for the best flavor and texture.
These bars can be stored in an airtight container for several days.
Add a sprinkle of lemon zest for an extra citrusy flavor.
